I have been having a problem ever since I switched the heat pump from a/c to heat and wondered if you all might have any advice. My thermostat is a digital touch screen model so when it goes blank there is no power to the heat pump/furnace. Well, after I switched the system over to heat it will only work for about a day and then the thermostat will go blank. I then have to crawl under the house and reset the three breakers under there and then it will come back on and again only work for a day. The breakers under the house don't have the red showing like they have beeen kicked when I go under there, but resetting them works anyway. My house has muliple breaker boxes: one main one in the laudry room, a smaller one with two breakers right beside it in the laundry room and a third with three breakers under the house. I don't know why the house has so many boxes and especialy the one under the house. Do you all have any idea how I can fix this or what might be going wrong?

Sounds like limit or smoke dect.or a safety takeing 24 voltages off the t-stat. By resetting the breaker you are resetting the lock out relay or circiuit board. First thing I would check would be the filter . Check both coils and blower wheel and make sure they are clean.Make sure you turn all breakers and disconnect switchs off before removeing any panels. While you have the panels off give your unit a good visual inspection. What kinda of back up heat do you have ? Dual fuel ? elec. Heat ? What make (Brand) of unit do you have ?

Check all like said. But will it run on AC now?? compressor ok???. Will just fan on run ok inside?
crawl under the house and reset the three breakers under there and then it will come back on and again only work for a day.
Are they in the blower coil unit or in a electric panel?

Then entire systems runs fine when its in a/c (cool) mode. I'll check the things that have been mentioned when I get a litte free time. Thank you for the replies.
