I had installed a RiteTemp 8050C thermostat last winter and everything had been working fine. Heat worked last winter and AC worked over the summer on the Ruud Achiever 10 SEER Heat Pump. Now that it is getting cold again I switched it back over to Heat but it only blows out cold air unless the Aux heat comes on.
Anyone know if this has to do with the change over wires or is it a device on the Heat Pump itself?

Yes for sure start with the condenser outside . Does it come on and run when you call for heat. If so is the big copper line hot or cold outside by the unit?

the heat pump turns on but it is in AC mode even if I set the tstat to Heat. I am now over my head since trying to adjust the wires on the tstat neither the furnace nor the heat pump will come on. Thanks for your reply but I will be calling a pro at this point.
