I have an older dryer about 13 years old, the timer went bad. I bought a new timer from the Local parts store but on the new timer has 6 connections or plug ins, my old one only had 5. On my old one it had A,B,C,X and T the new one has all the same but it has an F also. The workers at the appliance store said sometimes with older units they just use something compatible and it should work and that is all the advice they could give me besides calling GE, which I did and the workers there said they were not techs and could not answer question. The model of my dryer is DDE7208MAL and the timer part # is WE4X821. When I look up part on iternet it gives me the WE4X821 #. The main question is, is there any type of safety issues like spark off of the one not connected or could using the wrong part cause a problem besides making the dryer not work. Thanks

Should'nt be a problem. The new timer probably interchanges with other GE models that have additional features that yours doesn't. Hook it up the same as your old timer & ignore the extra terminal. Should work fine. Dave
