My Whirlpool Range P/N WHE83311 ( eletric range smoth top)stop working. The Oven was on then the Control/clock shutoff there was a burning smell coming from the control.
The circuit breaker did not trip. I reset it, waited for a while.
Then turned back on. There was LED on one of the Knob.
Other than that nothing works.
I tried to remove the screws in the front panel to access the control but I couldn't.
Is anyone manged to access the control? Is the access from the front or the back of the Range.
It is only 5 years old i am disspointed that it fails that early.
My old range was working fine I replaced when it was 16 years old. Now I regret it I should have kept it.

Please help

Thanks,

You probably have to take the back off to get to controls. Look for a burnt spot on control board. Dave

Thanks dave
I removed 3 screws in the front, and 2 screws from the back holding the side covers, and the whole backplash swing open.
I located the control board, one of the component is burnt, part of the board is black. I located the part number at
http://www.whirlpoolparts.ca/parts/fspPartSearch.php
I don't think that something else caused this component to fail.
Meaning if I replace the control board it will blow up again.
it is about $110 what I will be charge for a technician to come diagnose the problem.
Does any one had a bad experience replacing the control borad?

Thanks
