Hello,
I have a Concord Express system which has been monitored by ADT for several years. We will be discontinuing monitoring and I am looking for the best use of the installed hardware at the lowest possible price. I have the Concord Express system with door contacts, motion, and fire all hard wired. I also seem to have the fixed display keypad (and cannot obtain the 'installer' code from anyone anyway). Does anyone have suggestions? I have considered the following:
- Use Locally only and deal with the display complaining about the line being disconnected.
- Install a new alpha keypad for the system and 'try' some common install codes. Possibly reset it and use something like nextalarm.com
- Replace the panel and keypad but reuse the wired contacts
- I'd really just like to have my home server monitor the system and email me in an alarm event.
What are my options here?
Thanks!

This is a pretty basic system, so connecting it to a PC is not really one of your options with this system.
The trick with the concord express is that there is an installer code _and_ a _dealer_ code. The installer code on an ADT installed version should be 6321. The default/memory clear function _will not_ reset the installer and dealer codes.
You should be able to set it as a local system. I _think_ that you would be able to reprogram it as a different monitoring reciever.
I suspect that for your long-term goal, you would do well to shop for a system that has the computer network compatibility you seem to be seeking.

Thanks, Am I correct, however that even if I had the right code, the 60-820 Fixed Display keypad will not let me enter intaller mode? Not sure if it's worth looking for an alpha keypad on ebay or if switching it over is as simple as 'remove old, connect new'.
As for systems that connect to a PC, any recommendations? I must not be googling the right words, because I'm not finding much.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction,
Brian

Correct. That is not a programming keypad. You need one of the full alphanumeric keypad models to even try to program this thing.
Concord express panels are considered fairly DIY friendly in general, but I have no idea what modifications ADT had made when they had ITI tweak the system for their installs.
You probably won't find much information on computer interface compatible security panels. For most systems the computer interface is an add on module. The manufacturers don't really promote them because a lot of these interfaces haven't been UL approved for commercial security.
Your best bet is to check sites that deal in home automation products.

What type of control do you want to have over the control panel by connecting to a PC?For basic arming disarming and basic monitoring of the system, you can upgrade to a Concord 4 system by GE and install a gateway device via the data bus. Try www.alarm.com and checkout the options there.
