My 1918 house has an unfinished basement where the boiler, beverage fridge, workshop, and storage are. I am thinking that I need to insulate the perimiter joist cavities, and the areas immediately under the radiators. The joists measure an actual 9", located 16 oc. Is it a good idea to insulate these areas?
what size insulation? do I need a vaporbarrier? If I do, I assume it goes facing the floor, leaving the fiberglass showing to the basement side?
thanks in advance!

It will help if you just put a R19 block like in each joist space up on the sill plate all around the home. paper to the inside of the home.
