Our laundry room is the the first room one sees when entering by our carport. I just finished painting the paneling a creamy off white color (looks wonderful and brightened the room tremendously!). I am painting the molding and trim a dark burgundy. My quandry is that we have an old, tall, narrow cabinet that belonged to hubby's grandparents. It had several layers of paint which I've now stripped down. Not sure what the wood is but it came from Montgomery Ward in the early 50's. I don't know whether to paint it (if so, what color) or stain it. I don't want it to just blend in with the wall but not sure I want the same color as the dark trim. I'm not a decorator, please help!!!
Thanks in advance

what's the next room off the laundry room - kitchen? what colors are used in there or even in the next room after that? what's the flooring? is the paneling floor to ceiling or just wainscoting?
i definitely wouldn't paint the cabinet the cream color, but the burgundy might be okay. however a third color would be best to feature it, like maybe a dark green or blue or whatever color works with your adjoining room's color scheme.
