I have an 1986 yamaha moto4 200 (4 wheeler) I have 2 of the same quads. I have recently rebuilt my quad, it was done by a pro. Before the rebuild, the quad smoked bad.
Is it still burning from the oil on top of the engine or from the exaust?
The quad has at least 15 hours since i rebuilt it. The smoke is not very noticable but enough to beg ya.
Another question i have is how long should i take it easy on my quad? I changed the oil today 9/29/06.

My Quad does not smoke any more. i think it was just trying to burn the extra oil on the top of the piston.

Greetings. I just found this forum, what a great site. Is your quad a 2 stroke or a 4? If its a 2 stroke it will smoke, all 2 strokes smoke. As far as the break in if its a 4 stroke there is a great article on the Mototune website under break-in secrets. But in the end you have to make your own decision. I bought a 2006 KLX 250S Dual Sport bike and used the Mototune method.

Then there should be no smoke, unless you are running rich. Make sure the choke is not getting stuck a little. You mentioned you had the motor rebuilt. What all was done to it? Did the cylinder get honed out right? New rings, right side up, and opposed?

if you notice my second post i had said it does not somke any more. The only thing i had done to the quad was have the jug bored out 20 over by a pro and had the head checked for any leaks with mineral spearits. All the rings where put in right, i made sure of that.
