Hi,
I am trying to replace my T841a 1712 Non-Programmable Heat Pump Universal Thermostat for a Hunter Model 44155C, but I can't make the new unit work, I have a heat pump of two stages

The Honeywell thermostat has the following connections:

Color Cable Terminal

Blue -----> X
Red -----> W2
Green -----> G
Orange -----> O
Yellow -----> Y
Black -----> E

and the Hunter thermostat has the following terminals:

G
Rc
Rh
Y/O
W/B
Y1

I tried the following combination:

Honeywell terminal Hunter terminal

W2 -------- > W/B
R --------> Rh
G --------> G
O --------> Rc
Y ---------> Y/O

Please I would appreciated a lot any help that anybody can help me to make my Heat pump work with the Hunter Thermostat.

I honestly want to say you should return the Hunter back. Hunter been know to have nothing but problems. Spend extra money for a Honeywell t-stat.

I hope you haven't tried to run the system the way you posted after wiring..

Jay I would thank you very much for your answer, I didn't run my equipment, I thought that could be risky to tried if I wasn’t complete sure, so I put the project on hold until I get some response.

And now I am going to return it and look for one Tstat that says clearly that is for a heat pump.

Thank you one more time and have a nice weekend.

Most of the newer Honeywell T-stat are set up to work with anything. I'd would look into the Focus Pro or Vision Pro.

Also, how old is your air handler/heat pump? You may want to follow the low voltage wire and see what letters they are hooked up to there.

Jay,

All the equipment is only one year old, and the reason that I want to change the tstat is just to have better control and more economy in my electric bill.

Ok, Hooking up a new t-stat to the new equipement will be MUCH easier. Let us know when you get a new t-stat, and let us know what letters you have on the air handler.
