Hi,

I am pretty new to the forums and i am hoping that someone can help me out.

I purchased the DSC power 632 system and have home run all of my wires to the panel.

My questions are as follows:

1. Do i have to have a resistor for each door/window contact that are normally closed or can i connect each zone right into the board? If i do need a resistor, where and how do i install it?
2. The siren that came with the unti has i believe four our five wires but the instructions only show to hook up the + and -. How am i supposed to hook it up to the siren?
3. I am not sure how exactly to wire the PIR. Any help on this?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I install home theaters for a living but the security field is a whole new ball game for me.

Thanks so much,
Dax

This system has the option of being programmed to not require the zone resistors. They normally go in series with either leg of the zone loop. The loop just needs to see the 5.6k ohm resistor.

The PIR is a 4 wire device. It needs power from the aux power terminals, and the other two are for zone input. If your motion has NC & NO terminals, use the NC. If it has tamper terminals, ignore them for now.

Which wires to use on the siren depends on what make and model the siren is. There's not a standard. If it has more than 3 wires, two of are probably tamper switch leads.

Look carefully at the back of the unit. Often the wire ID is printed on the back of the housing or molded into the plastic.

MrRonFL,

Thanks for your help. I really do appreciate it.

I have a few follow up questions if you dont mind.

Motion Detectors (DSC Bravo 3P and DSC Bravo BV-500):

The motion dectors have 4 screw terminals (12v, GND, NC, C). It also has 2 TAMP locations and a NO location which do not have the screw terminals.
Do i just connect the NC and C at the motion detector and connect it to any Z and COM terminal at the panel?

Siren (SD 15W-ULF):

The siren has 6 wires connected to it (2 red, 2 yellow, and 2 black). It looks like the following:

Red
V +
Red

Yellow
S
Yellow

Black
GND
Black

Do i need to only connect one + and one GND and leave the rest disconnected?

Again, thanks for your help.

Dax

Yup. If you are using the zone resistors, you install it in series with either leg, ideally at the device end of the system.

Yes, the leads are like that for ease in connecting multiple devices. One set of leads (probably the red) is for a yelp tone, the other is for a steady siren tone. The easiest way to figure out which is which is to touch one of the grounds and one of the other leads to a battery for a moment (earplugs would be good, these things run 90+ dB). I prefer the yelp tone, myself.
