Hi, I just installed a new main board for my DSC Power 832 Security Alarm System. My system has been in place for a while, but do to lighting, it fried my main board. Anyway, I replaced it and my system came up fine, but have a couple issues. The first issue is, my code does not work anymore, I am sure that is due to the new board. Also, when the alarm is in disabled mode, my door chimes are not working, I did have it enabled. Do I need to re-program the zones for the chimes? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks

David

Yes, all of your zone settings and codes were stored in the eeprom in the original motherboard. You have to recreate all of the correct zone settings and codes for your configuration. The door chimes are a user function that you turn on and off with a keypad command (or a properly programmed macro key).

You will need to start by giving your installation and user manual a good read. Being DSC it's going to be a difficult read, but pay special attention to the sections on keypad commands and the first couple of pages of the section on programming. If you don't already have the installer manual, when you get one, make sure you get the programming forms (which are a seperate booklet, without which the installer manual will be even less comprehensible).

Well, I went thru the manual, does help, but I can not get pass the Master Code or Installers Code entry. Does the new board contain some default codes? Is there a way to setup a new Master Code or Installers Code without knowing the previous ones?

thanks

The default installer code is in the first paragraph in the section on how to program:

"How to Enter Installer Programming
Installer Programming is used to program all communicator and panel options. The Installer Code is [5010] at
default but may be changed to prevent unauthorized access to programming."

If you bought the board used, it may have been set for a different installer code; in which case you will need to use the hardware defaulting procedure located in section 5.32 of the manual (page 38 in most editions).
