The new system installation was completed last Wednesday. It has been up and running now for several days. We ended up chosing the American Standdard Heritage 16 heatpump and air handler. So far we are pleased. The new system is so much quieter than the propane FA system it replaced.
There is one question regarding the thermostat. We have the Am. Std. T800 thermostat w/outdoor air sensor kit. It works fine except that it is too sensitive.
The thermostat is located in a hallway, no drafts or vents close by. In the morning when starting from the 5 deg. setback temp (64 night, 69 day). The unit runs for approx. ten minutes, every ten minutes for several hours. After about 4 hrs. the house temp has stabilized and the cycling is minimal. To compensate, I have been bumping up the temp a degree when the unit comes on, then back a degree when it turns off. This leads to a much more reasonable cycle of about 8-10 minutes on and 20-30 minutes off. (It's only about 50 at night right now). There is no loss of comfort felt by us by this manual adjustment (though it's a pain in the neck).
It would be great if there was a way to set the swing on this thermostat. Unfortunately there appears to be no setting to slightly increase the temp swing like there is in the White-Rodgers and Lux thermostats. Does anyone know if there are circuit board jumpers or an additional code to adjust the swing on the Am Std. T800 (or Honeywell TH8320u)?

Check paper work on it . Most tstat from honeywell can be set to come on and off so manytimes in a hour.
With a heat pump we tell people to set it and let it alone.

Paperwork and the Am. Std rep were the first things checked. That is what the installer did when he set up the system. But unlike W/R, Robertshaw and Lux thermostats that allow the installer to control the swing, the Honeywell does not offer an apparent solution. This is not the best. An older home is going to need a different swing setting than a modern super insulated one. Given the choice between 12 cycles per morning and about 6, I may change out the thermostat if I don't hear from Honeywell with a better solution.
