I have 3 ceiling fans which will only turn in one direction. When I flip the reversing switch, the fan will not run. What is the fix for this problem. Thanks.
These fans are connected to single light switches.

You have three fans that are bad from the factory. There are no changes you can make to your house wiring to fix the problem.
You should call the MFG and get your money back or replacement fans that work properly.
EDIT: One last thought, make sure the fan stops completly before turning it back on. If you try to change the direction while it is running you can cause damage at worst case but it is not likely to change direction. The direction is usualy controled in a start winding that only gets the fan started. Once the run winding takes over a change of that switch is likely to do nothing.

All the ceiling fans I have had will change direction simply by changing the switch. It takes some time for them to slow down and reverse. There is no centrifugal start switch in a ceiling fan to control direction at startup only.

thanks joed. I stand corrected because I was afraid to try it on my fan.
I still like leaving trial and error to the testing labs :D
