just put in a new thermostat and was setting it up but wasn't sure about this thing. i have a heat pump with air handler with backup electric heat. the setting on thermostat where it says the changeover valve(o/b) energized in cooling or heating? thanks

What brand is the heat pump?

Otherwise, you can go ahead and turn on cooling and see if it cools, then switch over to heat, and see if it warms up.. if it's the other way around of the mode you set it in, then change the settings.
