I have a old ceiling fixture with 2 pairs of Black (B) wires and 2 pairs of White (W) wires (both connected with wire nuts); 1 orange only with wire nut, 1 pair of Red (R) wires (connected with wire nuts), 1 Green (G) wire attached to the wall.
At the single pole switch, 2 pairs of W wires (connected with nuts), 1 pair of B wire (connected with nut), 1 B and 1 R (connected with nut) - the same R one also connected with the swith, 1 Orange (O) connected to the switch, G wire attached to the wall.
I have a single bulb with only one W, one B and bare one in the ceiling light which I want to be installed. I tried to connect to B & B, W & W, Bare to the metal screw - light was on but unable to swith it on or off. I also tried to connect B & R, W & O wire at the ceiling but there was no electricity passing through.
Appreciate your advise how to connect properly.
Thanks a Lot!

Try orange from the ceiling box to black from the outlet box.
white from the ceiling box to white from the outlet box.
and fix the green wires they are not supposed to be connected to the wall. they are supposed to be tied together and bonded to the metal outlet box.

Thanks a Lot!#
Disconnect the wires CONNECTED to the OLD fixture, Then connect these to the NEW fixture in the same manner (typicaly, black to black-white to white). All bare conductors (wires) together to the metal box and the bare wire on the light fixture.
No need to touch any other wire, in the switch or the light box.
(unless they fall apart) then you deal with it.
It's majic.
