I Live out in Southern CA in a two story home (approx. 2200 sq.ft.) Just removed old heater which was good enough to heat the top section of home but lower always remained like an ice chest in the winter time.

I will be replacing this unit and adding an AC as well.

My question is as follow: What size (BTU, seers, tonnage, etc.) would be appropriate for my situation, keeping in mind the problem I had before! I've read about adding a pump to push warm air to the bottom floor. A plumbing retailer advised me to buy a 90,000 BTU along with 14 seers and a 3 ton unit, does this sound ok?

Please advise, Thanks-helpintorrance...

Cant see the home . Id say get 3 bids make sure they run a heat loss and a AC load on the home. If you want it to work right for 2 floors get two units. If you go over a seer of 15 you can get a Tax credit of $300. Down there as its not that cold Id look at a 80% furnace
