Hello everyone.
Our new deck (pressure-treated wood) was finished about three months ago. Nice addition to the house, but the wife turned several candles upside down so rain wouldn't sit in them. Well, we all know how hot it was this summer and needless to say the candlewax is now in several big places on the deck.
The time has come to seal and stain the deck but I don't have a clue how to remove the wax. Any suggestions?
We also have several dogs, one in particular is a 4 y/o Yellow Lab that is scared to death of water. SERIOUSLY! That is one of the reasons we call him "Doofus." Anyway, when there is water or dew on the ground he does his "business" on the deck. Does urine/feces present any problems that need to be dealt with before cleaning and staining the deck?
Thanks to everyone here for there help.
Btw, any dog psychiatrists on this forum? :)
Jim

I would go about the wax on the deck the same as wax on carpet or hardwood....Use an iron over a brown paper bag. Not too hot, just enough to melt the wax and let the bag soak it up.

Been there, done that. Several years ago, my wife did the same thing. Nothing will get the wax out. As far a doofus, well it is a matter of training, and the urine will smell and soak in an un treated pt deck. Consider a sealer every year.

Thanks for your replies guys.
Earlier this morning I thought about just flipping the boards over.
It seems that will be the only option save buying new lumber.
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best.
Thanks again.
