I'm gutting an old farmhouse & there have been some people nosing around, so I'm installing a Vista20P & an Aurora motion detector that will later be used in the finished home.

First question is about wiring the motion detector to the panel. I believe I have it right at the sensor. That seemed pretty straight forward, but where do I connect the + & - wires on the panel? Right now I had them attached to terminals 4 & 5 which is what my 6160 keypad is connected to for power. The RR wire I just connected to terminals 8 & 9, which should be zone #1 correct? Do I need to add a resistor to this somewhere? If so, exactly where do I need to connect it. In laymans terms please. This is the first I have ever messed with security systems, so I'm a little green.

Next question. I walked through the Data Field Programming last night but it was getting late so I might have screwed something up. I get "Fault 01" & this goes through "Fault 08" & then it says "Check 100 RF Transmitter" I think, can't remeber exactly. I have no RF transmitters & I don't think I programmed it to see one. What do I need to do to fix all these faults?

Thanks!
Dan

Terminals 4 & 5 are aux power, as well as being the power for the keypads, so you use them for powering motions (and anything else needing external power). The resistor ideally connects in series with either leg of the alarm loop at the relay connections in the motion. You can also connect it the same way at the terminal strip on the alarm panel inputs (in a residential system, it's not as big an issue as a commercial install; but the first way is actually better).

Fault 1 thru 8 is because you haven't connected anything to the zone inputs yet. The Check 100 is because you accidentally set the system to look for a wireless reciever (could you possibly have a keypad that is also a reciever? The part number would end with "RF".) or a wired zone expander.

Just check your settings by using # + location number to make sure you didn't turn on a setting you didn't intend to.

Thanks for the help. I got it working last night all except for the Check 100 fault. I just moved the motion to Zone #2 & it worked.

I have a new problem though. When I enter the installer code +8 0 0 & go to some of the different fields, it won't let me change any settings. Do I need to power down & then back on again to do this?

Thanks again,
Dan

What keystrokes are you trying to enter, and into what fields? The answer will vary a bit.
