I'm installing 6" Halo IC rated recessed lights in a drop ceiling which has vinyl covered fiberglass panels.

I noticed on the Armstrong website a note that any incandescent light, even in a hi-hat, is too hot for these kind of tiles. It's the only time I've seen this mentioned.

I'm using an open trim, so I can have the cutout larger than the can by about 3/8". I really can't imagine this would be a problem, but now I'm worried. Anyone have any experience with these kind of panels?

I am gonna guess that the people at Armstrong did not put that information up on the site because they are trying to discourage people from buying thier product.

what about CFLs? they generate a LOT less heat than incandescents
