I just completed a small 14'x14' redwood deck. I noticed a couple of tiny holes and saw a couple of termites, but I killed them and finished putting the decking down. I thought I'd wait a week and then pull a few boards to look underneath. (The deck is low)

Anyway, I found about 6 boards that had an active termite at work. I bug sprayed them. Then I applied termin8 to the all of the boards and I'm going to leave them off for a week or so and see if there are any more termites. If I can't control them this way, I will have to gas them.

Two questions:
- isn't it odd to see termites so aggressive in con-heart redwood?

- do lumber yards have any obligation to provide pest free wood? (It's obvious that the bugs came with the wood - it's nice wood otherwise!)

thx
