We live in central Virginia, and had a 12x15 prefab aluminum sunroom built onto an existing elevated deck about two years ago. When the weather and humidity are right it is a wonderful room, but during the winter and the heat of the summer it is absolutely unusable. I have one of those oil filled radiator heaters that works OK, but it only heats and I need cooling as well. The two 52 inch ceiling fans just don't cut it. It is completely external to the house (which is brick) and I do not want to try to modify our home AC/Heat to include the sunroom.

I am looking for an efficient way of heating/cooling this room so we can use it the rest of the year. I have seen Heat/Cool units at Home Depot and Lowes that look like they were made for window use, but the windows in the sunroom slide horizontally. The smallest of these units is around 15 inches high, and I suppose I could cut an opening (or have the company that installed the sunroom do it) to fit it, but I am wondering if there is a better solution. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as just heating the room this winter, what is the most efficient method?

A sunroom is a great place for a Ductless unit! It will heat and cool and you don't have to worry about the windows!

You dont say if you have a heatpump set up there or what you use now to heat the home. For what you have there Id go with a slip in heatpump and cool unit that goes in the wall .Cost a lot less than any ductless unit will. Go to
htp://warmair.net and compare fuel cost for where you are there

We have a heat pump. What is a "slip in heat pump?"

Your on electric now so stay that way.
A slip in unit is like a window unit. You get a cover called a sleeve. This you put in the wall where you want the unit. Then the unit just slips right into it. They come AC with heatpump. . That is what I put in my own porch like yours. You just plug the power cord in is all
