I recently refinished my shower and left the shower valve exposed. I purchased a new shower faucet, bet when I opened teh package I realized the Valve is a completely different design. It is a Pegasus faucet. My old valve has a pin that is Oval with two sides being straight at the end of teh brass fitting. The new Fitting is completely different twice teh circumference around and the end pin is octagon. Is this new style standard now? is there a name for this new style? If so I would hope to hopefully purcahse an older style faucet off of Ebay. Im not in a place to rip out my newly laid marble for a new style faucet. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Daryl; correct me if I am wrong, but you remodeled a shower, installing marble walls, and didn't change out the old shower control valve? Maybe you could post a picture or two and we can help you with the problem.
