I would think you could find T nuts or thumb screws at the big box stores..or I know Lee Valley (specialty hardware store up here) has them....
or..www.rockler.com
These are also used on circular saws for the angle cuts gauge.

Not sure what you are looking for but when I read your post I thought of T-slot nuts rather than the t nuts jatco refers to. If so, try here:
