Hi All -

I am new to the forum. I've recently purchased a Power5Kit online to replace a very old ADT panel/key pad that was damaged (apparently by lightning) during a storm. The new system is a PC1832 panel w/ a RFK5501 (LCD I believe) keypad. I replaced the motion detector at the basement, and during the process also changed all the resistors from 2.2k ohm to 5.6k ohm. I experienced many problems during installation, but so far have managed to solve most via reviewing previous threads on the forum.

After 1 week, I am down to a few tweaks (hopefully). For one, trouble 4 (failure to communicate) shows on the keypad. Yes, I did turn off the communicator and TLM (telephone line monitoring). But the indicator lights stays on trouble 4 (shown at *2). I believe because of this, I can't complete the installation process, and therefore can't get the system to arm/disarm - I think I need this to also cancel the "i" indicator (alarms in memory) on the keypad. Can some one help me on this?

Thanks very much in advance!

Could you possibly mean a Power 832 (PC5010)? The model number you are quoting comes up a blank on the DSC database.

The 1832 is the new series of panel. It replaces the 832.
As for the trouble of fail to communicate, If its like the 832's you need to power the panel down and back up again. You should only have to set the time again after that.

Yes! I was able to cancel the trouble 4 light by powering the panel down. This has allowed me to set the time. Now, for the first time, I am able to arm / disarm the system! Thanks very much. Yes, I think the PC1832 is supposed to be a newer version of the PC5010. I couldn't find an installation manual, but after reading threads in the forum, I figured that the PC5010 CP-1 Version 3.2 manual would do the trick. I downloaded it from the web. Sure enough, the programming / features of the PC1832 have been almost identical to the PC5010 CP-1.

Now I do have some other questions regarding "residential dial," but I would try to figure out what I don't know first before posting any questions.

Thank you again for your help!
