Hello,
I've read around this forum looking for info on how to program my alarm system. As many of other posters.. I purchased a home with an existing system and no one knows anything about the alarm. The previous owners also purchased the house with no knowledge or care for the alarm. They never pursued the info. Anyhoo.. I own the home now and I am interested in using the alarm. I learned enough from this site to get into the programming mode but after that I am lost. Can anyone point me to the correct location to retrieve a manual or info on what to do after you have accessed the programming mode. What I think I need to do is, delete all previous codes and add my new ones. I guess that includes installer, master and user codes. The zones seem to be working correctly. I've tested every one of them and they work as they should. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You..
Lee

If you look through the FAQ (sorry it's a little hard to read because some of the formatting is currently disabled on the forums) and several of the other posts concerning Honeywell/Adenco Vista panels you will be able to see a few useful tips:
Nearly all Ademco family (this includes First Alert, Security Link, and several ADT models) panels can retrieve the Installer code by disconnecting the battery, then the AC power. Wait a minute, then reconnect power in the opposite order. Within 50 seconds, on any keypad press * + # at the same time. Unless the system has had an installer lockout feature activated, the panel should go into program mode. The details by system will vary, but the programming section number that shows on the display will be the location for the installer code (on Vista 10se panels this will be 20). Key in # 20, and the panel will read back the installer code one digit at a time.
If you wish to change the installer code enter *20 + [new 4-digit code].
Exit program mode using *99.
In run mode enter: [installer code] + 8 + 2 + [4-digit master code]
Do not hesitate more than a couple of seconds between keystrokes or it will kick you out of code programming and the new code won't take. Test the new code by turning on and off the chime function ([code] + 9).
You can get a user manual from: http://www.security.honeywell.com/hsce/
Installer manuals can be had from numerous online vendors (this was a pretty common system).

Thanx MrRonFL.
I tried to use # + * last night but I couldnt tell if it was in programming mode. All it said was d1 and the status light was lit "Armed". I'll look into the FAQ's here for more info. Thank you for your input. It helped me understand it's language/structure a little better. I found an installation manual. Hard to beleive some people are trying to sell them. Luckily I found it for free.

If you never got past the D1 prompt to where it showed 20, then they set the installer lockout. The way around this is to have someone hold # + * while you restore power.

Hello
I have the same problem with my alarm, but say this in the box "remote keypads, system must be programmed with a Nš 5137AD or 6139. It need not remain in sytem. After programming the system can use: Nš4127, 4137AD, 5137AD, 6127, 6128, 6137, 6138 or 6139".
And the keypad that i use is 6128sp. The question is: may i do # + * with this keypad? would work? or just need the first 2 keypad in the list to programming.
Thanks
Sorry my English

Yes, you can do everything except zone programming with this keypad. It's good enough to change your codes and disable the dialer if you need to.

I can not change the code, in the display show D1 and never 20 , there are anothers ways to change the codes or reset to original codes?, because am thinking get the alarm and drop to trash. "Sad but True".

You can try powering down and having a helper hold *+# while you restore power. This will usually bypass the installer lockout. If that doesn't work, then the original installer used the download software to lockout all local programming access.
In that case, your best bet is a new control and keypad(s).
