Electronic Alarms and Home Security Devices - DSC PC 1500 adding entry delay

Good day all, great forum you have here was wondering if I could get some help on adding a delay to my back door. Here is a little background:

I currently have only my front door with 30 second delay when I enter and if I were to return home from my back door it would automatically sound the alarm. I would like to program the unit to allow me 30 seconds to enter from my backdoor to disable the alarm. This was never needed before so the installer did not do it, but now with kids starting school it would be very handy.

I unfortunatley have the user manual but NOT the installers manual (cant believe I could not find it for download), but I do have the installers code and the master code for the system.

Any help on obtaining the installers manual would be appreciated, and then from there if I need the steps to add the entry delay would appreciated.

Since my original post I have been able to download the installers manual, and have read through the section on "programming" and specifically Section 8 but still confused. Here is how far I have come, I would go to the keypad punch in

*8 (installers code)(11) (0-slow & audible) (0-standard delay loop)

But where do I tell it which zone I want to apply this to (in my case I want to apply it to my door switch (Zone 3)

Thanks for your reply, but I am not sure I understand your question, it is my back door, and the door switch goes right back to the panel so I believe my answer should be yes to your question??

What he is asking is if that is the only sensor on that paticular zone. I.E. Some houses have the front and garage door on the same zone since they will be used for the same entry delay, some people put all their motions on one zone, or all the windows of one room, ect. Essentially, is there anything else hooked up with that door.

It's not as simple as just entering an entry for zone three. There _is_ a way to do that, but if you are having trouble following the DSC manual, we will stick to the simple way.

First you need to list out what all 6 zones are currently being used for, because you will have to overwrite all of the zones to do what you want to do. Once you have that list for us, I can tell you the correct keystrokes to do what you want.

Zone 1 - Front Door (Door switch with delay)
Zone 2 - Living Room (motion sensor instant alarm)
Zone 3 - Back Door
Zone 4 - Hallway (motion sensor instant alarm)
Zone 5 - Basement Part A (motion sensor instant alarm)
Zone 6 - Basement Part B Near Panel (motion sensor instant alarm)

This will set your two doors to delay zones, and all of the motion detectors to interior zones that will automatically bypass if you arm in stay mode, or do not open and close a delay zone opening during the arming delay period. If you want any of the motions to arm regardless, program them as zone type 02 instead of 03.

Thanks MrRonFL, I will try this tomorrow when I am back at home, but if you dont mind and I wouldnt mind to learn a little could you please explain what each of those commands are and I will follow them in the installer manual. As per your instructions then I press *(installer code)(11)(00)(03)(00)(03)(03)(03)#

I have also realised that to go out the back door I would pass in front of my hall motion dectector (Zone 4) so I should program that as (02) instead of (03), correct? So which (03) do I make (02)?

Both interior zone types follow the delay on the door. Type 03 just automatically bypasses if you arm the system in stay mode. Otherwise, you would have to manually bypass the motions to arm the doors and still be able to move around inside. In general, zone type 3 is the better choice.

the 6 pairs of numbers following the section (i.e. 11) indicate each zone (i.e Zone 1 is 00 and Zone 2 is (03) ). I am sure thats right makes a lot of sense now.

If I may ask, in this thread or should I start another, I would like to add a voice dialer (my system currently does not have one that I can identify) so that my DSC 1500 can call my cell if an alarm is tripped. I have done some searching and see its possible, just would like to know what the experts would recommmend in terms of a voice dialer for my model system.

For basic function, they are all pretty similar. The ones by Linear corp are pretty economical, and relatively simple to connect. It would take a bit of programming to set the PGM output on the DSC panel to trip the thing, but it's pretty simple.
