We just moved into our new house and do not have the codes to our alarm system. I have read past post and have already try *8 2500 but it just beeped once and all the lights went out. I have disconnect the power and the battery to the system and it did not click. I am hoping that is a good thing. Please tell me where to go from here. TIA

This is a relatively old and limited unit, you may want to save toward upgrading. That said:

Power down the system, battery and AC power
Using a short jumper, short the pins marked EEPROM Reset
Power Up with AC power
Count 10 seconds and remove the shorting jumper
This reloads all of the factory default settings, which means that you will have to reset all of the zones to match your configuration, shut off the dialer and a few other bits of minor housekeeping.

If you don't have a good list of what zones do what, you might want to determine that before doing the default.
