My toilet runs periodically; I figure this is normal as I've always had toilets do that. It'll start running, last about 10 seconds, and stop. No biggie. However, for about the past two or three weeks, this running has gotten louder and louder to the point it now even wakes me up at night (the bathroom is next to the bedroom). What could possibly be causing this increase in sound and how can I get rid of it? Thanks, B.

"running" of a toilet fill valve is NOT ususal....it is a symptom of a bad flapper, so you are wasting a lot of water.

The noise is just the fill valve now also worn out.

Get a new flapper, and replace the fill valve .
