My home is a 70's built ranch with walnut stained exposed ceiling beams in the living room. Removing them is not an option because they are bolted into the supporting structures. I want to lighten up the color. The rest of the wood trim has been changed over the years to a medium oak shade. How can I make the beams blend in?

Welcome to the forums
It's not easy to lighten stained wood. You would need to strip it to get it lighter. You would want to use scaffolding if you go this route.
They could also be painted
