We just built a new ranch house, but the 2 showers on the main floor aren't getting very much hot water. They must be turned 100% to the hot water side for a nice shower. The 1 shower in the basement is okay. It is turned to about 75% hot water. Was this installed or calibrated incorrectly or more likely a non-scalding feature working a little too well? Where to start?

Thanks for the suggestions,

J

A good place to start is by identifying the make & model of the mixer. Then check the mfg's website for the manual which should show the temperature adjustment procedure (if not, give them a call). It's often a matter of adjusting a handle limit. Knowing the make & model and having a diagram could come in handy a few years down the road as well.

I would also check your hot water heater. Sometimes the manufacturer's default setting is not hot enough. The hotter the water the more cold water you will want to add to keep the temperature adjusted while bathing. Caution! if you have children make sure water heater is not set very high. We just recently put in a new water heater and the water was not hot enough so I turned it up some and my problem was resolved. I could use some better water pressure though. I hope this helps, The Ladyfixer.
