i have purchased a new/replacement tub (american standard/americast-princeton-series) made of a 3/8-1/2" thichk dense plastic type material.
my question-the instructions state/do not try to use mortar to fill the void between the floor & bottom of tub.tub bottom should not touch the floor.
all helping advice from seming knowalgeabe people have told to be sure to put a mortar base under it.
what is your"opinion"?
thanks

Most tub installation instructions either do not mention a mortar base or suggest it. If your instructions state not to use one, you will be voiding any warranty you have should the tub have problems later. I have included the toll-free number for A.S.. You may want to call and inquire as to why the mortar bed is not recommended.

tech support advised-use no mrtar base/it will react with the resin compound of the tub,& void any warranty.
i did not think to ask about the use of a ready mix dry wall compound.
