Hi, I have a old kenmore heat pump. if i had to guess it is around 20 years old. the compressor failed and i replaced it. i also replaced the filter with a bidirectional heat pump filter. evacuated system and recharged. the system started as it should-compressor came on. the readings however are close to equal on the high side about 150 and low about 130. the line between the expansion valve and the condensor is freezing up-white frost. do you think this is a obstruction or a valve problem? possiably stuck between heat and cool? debris stuck in expansion valve? any insight would be greatly appreciated. I think whatever is causing this problem may have lead to the compressor failure.

who7cares69,

There are serious environmental and legal concerns with diy sealed system repairs and as such can not answer questions like that here.
You must be certified and qualified to work on this equipment.
