I purchased the subject sander in 1995 and it stopped abruptly as if I turned the power off. I installed a new switch and that didn't help. I checked the power and it does go through the switch. The timing belt looks fine. The manual doesn't help on going any further. What's next? Thank you.

You have done everything possible without looking at the motor. Sounds as if the motor has gone south. It could be the brushes, but I am not sure that model has replaceable ones from the outside.

Chandler,
Hope this gets to the right place because I'm a once a month type computer person who stumbled across the DYI site and am still learning my way around. Thanks for the comment. When the parts list didn't list brushes I knew I was in trouble.-- Bird
