Hello everyone,

We have been living in this house for nearly a year. For the last week, in the morning as soon as get up from the bed, there is a very bad smell like sewage which spreads the whole living room. Our toilet is next to the living room, but it happens only in the mornings so far.

I don’t know what is really happening there – I could not see any blockage or anything.

Having said the above I could not see any vent pipe in the house, also I can’t imagine that anyone would build a house without a vent pipe.

I don’t know anything about DIY, please give me some advice on this, I will be very grateful.

Thanks,
diydummy

You don't say how old the house is, but it may be worth your time to pull up the toilet and replace the wax ring seal. That might be where a little sewer smell is seeping out.

DIY info on the job is here:

And go on a search mission for venting. It is possible you have AAV's, but hopefully someone installed real venting, and just did a bad job that we can help you fix.
Post back with your findings.
