We just finished painting our wooden kitchen cabinets into a red/brownish color.
Now they look all nice, however, since the doors don't have any relief (they are flat wooden doors), they look kinda plain ...

We added fixtures, and that helped; but we would like to have something going on to make them look less plain; but we also don't want to make them look cheap ..

any ideas someone ??

Hi raket. :) Congrats on finishing! I can't imagine anything else going directly on kitchen cabinets but I guess it all depends on what it is you want. I bet they look great as is. Can you post a pic?

"Since the doors don't have any relief," as you say, perhaps stenciling a 'relief' could give you the illusion that your doors have raised or recessed panels. There are also pre-made moldings that can be painted and attached to flat panel cabinet doors to transform them. The look of many custom and pre-manufactured cabinets use moldings on doors to accomplish a custom look.
