Decorating and Design - Help choosing flooring

I am remodeling a 1000 square foot 2 bedroom, 2 bath, apartment style condo. I have installed laminate wood flooring in the kitchen and the hall. It is a nice light natural maple in color. I still need to do the living room/dining area. I was planning to use a darker laminate in the LR/DR but have now decided to sell the unit when I am done. Would it be more attractive to more people if the entire place had the same maple flooring? If I don't use the maple what is popular now.

personally, i'd want carpet (berber) in the LR & bedrooms and more of the same laminate in the DR.

i don't think you could go wrong doing it all in the laminate though. i'd stick with the same color though, not some light & some dark.

you won't be able to please all of the people though.

While carpet still has a fair share of the floor covering market, more and more consumers are going with hard surface floor coverings for a variety of reasons--ease of maintenance, allergies, etc. For continuity, it is best to have the same color floor covering throughout if going with laminate.

Thanks Annette. I will go with the maple laminate then. The dining area is part of the living room and there is really no good place to transition from carpet to laminate. Also because I provide the labor myself the laminate will cost me half as much. I have some nice oriental rugs to use in both areas so I think it will show well.

sounds good. all the rooms will seem larger, too, without the definite boundaries of different flooring.
