I have a MTD Yard Machine with a 5.5 motor. I think the carburetor needs to be cleaned How do I do this?

Go buy a gallon of Napa #6402 carburetor cleaner, a can of spray carburetor or brake cleaner, a pair of safety gloves and a pair of safety glasses (these are for the 6402 cleaner, which is very powrful stuff), the correct carburetor kit and air filter for your particular engine, remove the air filter assembly, remove the carburetor from the engine, soak the carburetor for 20 minutes, flush the carburetor with the spray cleaner, allow to air dry (if you have no compressed air, that is), rebuild the carb using the carb kit, install the carb, install the air filter assembly (with a new filter) and away you go. You're done. Sounds easy, doesn't it?
