I'm curious why when A/C units are installed, why only the cold
line is insulated from the condensor unit to the evaporator.
Why is the cold line not insulated on the inside of the condensor
unit ? ...seems like an energy waste. Questions:
Is it ok to insulate the cold line inside the condenser unit ?
If not, why ? If so, would i see better efficiency ? ..thanks

It is not insulated to help keep liquid refrigerant from going to the compressor! DO NOT INSULATE IT!

I agree with Air's reply. You are thinking backwards. The large pipe is pulling vaper from inside coil into the compressor. The pipe exposed is to help burn off any liquid that may be in the line. So leave it alone.

Yep the only reason its insulated is so it will not drip water where you don't want it
