Well we usually keep it on 70 always in my place. Today I got home from work and the digital thermostat said it was 80!?!!

I checked and it was set at 70... then I noticed there was no cold air blowing from the vents...

I checked outside the condo and the fan outside is spinning... the A/C sounds like it's running... just not cooling the place down...

Where should I start?

Thanks

Is the fan inside blowing air? Did you notice any ice on the large copper line outside? Can you hear if the compressor is running?

Not blowing very much... if you get your hand right up next to the vent you can feel a LITTLE air coming out... not sure what to listen for as far as the compressor... no ice outside...

I did notice a large block of ice on the compressor inside (the radiator looking thing).... we have it thawing out now, hopefully by the middle of the night it will be thawed out and I can crank it on....

Can't stand sleeping in the heat :-(

Is the filter clean ???? Let the inside fan run but let the outside unit off.Till all the ice is gone. Just a guess your low on freon if its not a dirty filter.

Where do you live? You must live in like Alaska or something if you think 80 degrees is hot! To get a house to 70 you must not live in a hot climate.

My tstat is alwayas set at 79 in Florida when it's hot outside.

Either a cold climate or one huge electric bill. Low 80's seems cool to me. Especially if you have been working outside in 100+ degree heat. Or worse yet, in an attic on a 100 degree day.

Like we have said before, freezing up (in most cases) = Low air flow or Low freon.
