My A/C external drain is only 6" from the wall and I worry about the constant moisture attracting termites. What type of dry well would work best?

I have thought about excavating below the foundation & filling w/ rocks/gravel, then burying a 5 gal plant pot filled w/ rocks & gravel just below the A/C drain pipe.

Another option is to use a modified 45 degree L-shaped piece of
3" PVC to divert the water away from the house and have the PVC terminate into the 5 gal pt filled w/ gravel, acting as a dry well.

Any suggestions?

Id just slip a PVC 90o L on it and a 10ft pvc pipe
Move the end of the pipe now and then . Dont glue the 90oL to the pipe from the home. When you have to cut the grass just take it off.

Most drains in this area are tied into the plumbing. I chose to run mine outside and hooked up an old hose to it and direct it to my garden or a couple of trees I have in the yard. I figured why waste the water down a septic tank.

Ed,

Thanks for your reply.

The more I think about it, the further away from the house I can divert the water the better. I would prefer to have the PVC drain pipe underground and out of sight. I am afraid someone would trip over it if it was laying on top of the lawn.

Im with CovTiger use the water. Here code calls for the drain to not be fixed are attached to the sewer line. it can drain in to a open trap .like a washer does. But thats why we try to run it to the outside

Well if you want to work . Get a 4" X10' PVC pipe with the holes in it and one 4" L90o Put that in the ground slope away from the home. Holes down and the AC drain pipe run in the 90o L.

I'll go to Lowe's today & look what they have available.

Is it necessary to fill the 4" perforated PVC pipe w/ gravel or should it be open?

Just let it open. The 90oL will be at the home for the AC drain line to drain into. The other end just duct tape it closed

Given a choice, the holes go on the BOTTOM half of the 4" pipe. - Keeps dirt/surface water from entering and lets water out.
