We are considering purchased a small table from a retail company that has been advertised in its description as a "black laquer finish". This is a brand new table. We want to use the table in the bathroom as a base for our stone sink. The problem is that the company cannot provide information about the nature of the laquer finish. We have thought about sealing it with polyurethane, but we were told that the laquer will wrinkle if it was not oven dried or if it did not have a "catalyst". The fact that some of the panels are MDF would probably rule out an oven-dried laquer. It is a really nice piece for our sink, but it was suggested to us that laquered finishes will not stand up to the moisture of a bathroom. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

hi
lacquer finish is sensitive to chemical like perfum and other product.
Lacquer is applied in thin coat. Some furniture i made used up to 20 coats for a high gloss finish.
If you want to used this table you might try placing a glass top over it to protect it
cheers
