We have an upright Beau*mark fridge in our kitchen that makes popping or cracking like sounds from time to time. I have not idea what it could be, the fridge works fine and there is no evidence of leaking or sparking from the back?? Any ideas, thanks.

what you are hearing more than likely is when the fridge goes into defrost it expands the compartment causing some pops and cracks, when it goes into normal operation, you will hear the same
pops and cracks as it contracts. and as a side note, as part of a spring cleaning ritual, pull the fridge out and vacuum the dust bunnies that seem to reproduce there over the year. hope some of this helps.

We bought a new refridgerator about 5 yrs ago. It makes the same noises you are describing. The owners manual said this was normal. Ours works fine, just noisier than the one it replaced.
