Just a couple months ago I paid $150 to a technician. He cleaned the A-coil and added freeon to my unit. He stated the A-coil was in great shape and that he was able to fix the leak which was supposedly caused by that little hardware ventil on the tubing of the o/s unit. 2 days ago I had the same problem again. No cool air, icing on the o/s tubing and water around the inside unit. I turned off the unit overnight, changed the filter (2 months old) and turned the A/C on again the next morning. House cooled down nicely for about 24 hrs, now it's icing up again. I don't think the guy really found the leak and this will keep happening again and again. What if the leak is under the house? Does that ever happen? How can you detect the leak? And how much should I pay him for just recharging the freeon on a small unit? Would really appreciate some advise.

Id say call another hvac tech to look at it. Turn the unit outside off till its fixed. Yes make sure they fix the leak in the unit. We have many ways to look for leaks in a AC set up Also a dye that can go inthe freon . Then when they come back it helps find it-------sometimes.
You can let the fan inside on 24/7. Cant say the cost different all over country
