I have Cub Cadet ZTR with a Kohler command 20hp engine. I love the machine and have only one problem with it. It will smoke badly for a few seconds when first started. After about 10 seconds the smoke stops. It is white smoke (oil) and pretty well fills up my garage with smoke when I start it. The dealer I bought it from says it's normal and not to worry about it. I don't have much faith in his knowledge. He keeps trying to convince me that it is just a rich condition due to choke at start up. Anyone have any ideas? I really hate a smoking engine, especially a new one.

If it were smoke from a rich condition, the smoke would be black. I believe yours is from oil burning. Probably from oil leaking down the valve guides. I don't consider it normal at all in the extent that you've described. I think I would try another shop.
