I have a 12 year old Kenmore side by side refridgerator and I noticed that the door had been left a little ajar two nights ago. In the morning it was full of condensation. Now it seems like everything in the fridg is freezing. The controls to adjust the temperature are frozen in place. Could this be caused by the outside humidity getting in the night the door was left ajar? How can I fix?

Thanks for any ideas!

We unfortunatly did the same exact thing. It appears the door frove open between the freezer and the fridge. I complety defrosted the unit for a day with it turned off and the doors open. After restoring power it ran fine with no other problems. This was about 6 months ago.

agree with mattison, but be prepared for the water run-off (ice melting).

Thank you very much! This was the problem. However, I didn't have any water on the floor?????

you we're lucky, the condensate pan must have collected all the melted ice. after a few days, pull the fridge from the wall and vacuum all the dust (unless you have been doing this on a regular basis, you are a rare breed). most people that i have serviced have never moved the thing since the delivery people put it in.
anyways, glad that your problem was solved.
