I just finished building a laundry room in my basement. When I first started my project I was planning on having the washer and dryer next to the inside wall so that they could connect to the power and plumbing. The only problem that I didn’t think out was the venting of the dryer. At first I wanted to just vent it into the house so we could capture the moisture as it gets really dry in the winter. The problem is that too much moisture is getting into the house. To properly vent the drier I am going to need to move it over by the outside wall.
My question is whether or not I can replace the existing electrical cable with one that is about 9 or 10 feet long. The only cables that are available at the hardware stores are either 4’ or 6’ long. I will have to make the cable myself. Is there any fire/safety hazard that I need to be aware of by installing a 10 foot long cable?

Thanks for any help you can give.
