Our Gas dryer has a strong smell of gas and the outside vent smells like natural gas as well. We just had our floors redone and when i used the dryer for the first time the smell of gas was noticeable. It still drys the clothes although they stink when they are done. I know we have to call the gas company but is the dryer shot??
We had our grill plumed into the gas line but have had no problems with it at all and we had the work done over a month ago.

Could be gas and if so I would immediately shut the gas off to the dryer and not use it until you have the gas company out to make an assesment. My guess is it is not gas but the varnish from the floors. Very common complaint. People will paint or varnish or even clean using strong cleaner near the dryer and then complain about odor in the clothes coming from the dryer. Very seldom will the burner in a gas dryer give off an odor. But leaking gas is an immediate hazard. Do you smell gas when the dryer is not running?
If so call the gas company immediately.
