We have an Electrolux 5.5cuft chest freezer that works intermittently. It is less than 5yrs old and just started to do this recently. Some days we'll go out and it will be warm and others it works fine. I keep it in an insulated garage in NC. the service guy told me a garage is too warm for a freezer. Overall he suggested to buy a new one. If it is not being opened on a regular basis why is it too warm in the garage? I have no problems getting a new one but just wondered what was going on with this one? Thanks

Your garage has to be very hot to make your freezer work intermittently. How much do you have in the freezer? Probably that freezer came with a 5 year complete warranty on the sealed system and other than the cold control that's all there is to that freezer. Check the manual that came with the freezer-it will have the manufacter's warranty on it. It sounds to me like the tech did not want to investigate the problem with the unit. By the way the new Frigidaire (brand name of Electrolux) freezers come with only a one year warranty. Not sure of Electrolux but probably the same as that is the trend of the industry. If you have a document from Electrolux that came with the freezer that says it has a 5 year warranty they have to honor that warranty. Only two things on that freezer-sealed system and cold control. You need to know what is wrong with the unit. I'd call the tech back and ask him what has failed on your freezer.
