I am renovating an old house. Ordered new carpet 3 months ago for master bedroom. Long story short it's the wrong carpet and I am stuck with it - I wanted shag - I got textured pile. It has little sqares all over it - hideous. What are some tricks to pull eye away from carpet? Any suggestions would be enormously appreciated.

Pictures at eye level, and maybe a border at the ceiling.
Dramatic ceiling fixture that draws the eye up immediately.
Use a dust ruffle/bed skirt the same color as the carpet, and a stronger [brighter color, bolder print] bed covering and pillow shams.
Dramatic curtains that stop at the base of the window, that do not go all the way to the baseboard or floor; if the curtains must go to the floor, use ones that complement the carpet color [but maybe a bit stronger] and a dramatic top.
Put an area rug on the carpeting that hides most of it but that does NOT contrast with it, which will draw the eye down. [I like this idea least; it would work for a poor color choice, but might not for texture.]
Above all, just wait a month or so; it will probably disappear for you. A bad color would be much harder to deal with.
