Our concrete porch edges are cracking. I was wondering if I could cover the porch with wood or composite deck material. I would be laying this down directly on the concrete patio. I would probably lag bolt a sill plate to the front of the porch. The porch is inset to the house so there are walls adjoining 3 of the sides of the porch and it has a roof over it. It is 20 feet wide and 7 feet deep and 4 1/2 inches thick. I just didn't care to take a jack hammer to the whole porch and repour it just because the top front edge is cracking off. Repairing it only lasted a few years and it's cracking off again. It is sometimes hard to get a concrete truck to deliver in my rural area, and if they do, they charge extra. That's why I'd rather go the wood or composite covering route.

My neighbor had his concrete porch covered with a system which uses epoxy mixed with fine gravel. It really looks great.
It was done by a professional. It is rather expensive.

Would that hide the damage to the edge of the concrete though? That's why I want to do it mostly.

Yes, the edge is covered.
